Gabriel Bernardo Barba

Gabriel Bernardo Barba (born April 24, 1964 in Morón , Buenos Aires Province ) is an Argentine clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of San Luis .

Life

Gabriel Bernardo Barba received the sacrament of ordination for the diocese of Morón on August 12, 1989 . Here he was active in parish and youth pastoral care. In 1997 he was incardinated in the newly founded diocese of Merlo-Moreno . From 1997 to 2005 he was Cancellarius curiae and from 2004 to 2009 Vice President of the Diocesan Charity. In 2006 he was appointed deputy vicar general and a year later he was appointed vicar general. From 2008 he directed the formation of permanent deacons .

After obtaining a licentiate at the Pontifical Catholic University of Argentina in 2000 , he took up a teaching position in canon law .

Pope Francis appointed him on December 19, 2013 as second bishop of Gregorio de Laferrère . The episcopal ordination received his his predecessor Juan Horacio Suárez on 1 March of the following year. Co- consecrators were the Bishop of La Rioja , Marcelo Daniel Colombo , and the Old Bishop of San Isidro , Alcides Jorge Pedro Casaretto .

Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of San Luis on June 9, 2020 . The inauguration took place on July 11th of the same year.
