Ernst Ammering

Ernst Bruno Ammering (born June 10, 1947 ) is a bookbinder , publisher and gallery owner based in Ried im Innkreis .

Live and act

Ammering runs the bookbinding business, which was founded in 1840 and is still run as a family business in Ried im Innkreis, is married to Ursula and has three children.

With his company he is a specialist in the facsimilization of bibliophile works. Among other things, he has reproduced the Gutenberg Bible and the so-called Welfenbibel ( Genealogia Welforum , Historia Welforum ) by Heinrich the Lion in his Rieder bookbinding workshop. He is considered one of the best in his branch and one of his clients is the Vatican Library .

With the scroll reader he designed, facsimiles of historical writings in bookstores and libraries can be made more accessible to the reader.

From October 21, 1995 to February 7, 2003, he was chairman of the Ring of Freedom in Business and was chairman of the bookbinding guild (branch representative) in the Upper Austrian Chamber of Commerce for several years. At the beginning of the 2010s, the printing, journalism, and paper union identified grievances in one of its companies.

Ammering, like his father Ernst Wilhelm Ammering, is a member of the Innviertel artists' guild .

Ammering Gallery

The Ammering Gallery on Roßmarkt in Ried im Innkreis, founded in 1978 and run by Ammering together with his wife Ursula, is an exhibition venue for both young, unknown and renowned artists. One or more times there were works u. a. by Ernst Balluf , Werner Berg , Anton Christian , Manfred Daringer , Paul Flora , Ernst Fuchs , Hubert Fischlhammer , Alfred Hrdlicka , Marion Kilianowitsch , Maria Moser , Hermann Nitsch , Hans Plank , Arnulf Rainer , Rainer Riepl , Karl Rössing , Hubert Schatz , August Stimpfl , Max Weiler and Jan Voss exhibited. There was criticism in 1995 because an exhibition was opened in the context of an ÖTB gymnastics festival .
