The Gallberg is located in the southern central part of the Giesener Berge , which connect to the north of the Hildesheim Forest , which is up to 358.9 m high, and from there strive north. It rises west of the Hildesheim district of Moritzberg . To the north the landscape leads to the Osterberg (approx. 181 m ), to the west to the Finkenberg ( 222.5 m ) and to the south to the Rottsberg (200 to 220 m ).

The Gallberg belongs in the natural spatial main unit group Weser-Leine-Bergland (No. 37), in the main unit Innerstebergland (379) and in the subunit Hildesheimer Bergland (379.0) to the natural area Giesener Berge (379.00).
Protected areas
The Gallberg nature reserve lies on the Gallberg ( CDDA no. 81710; designated 1976; 42 hectares in size) and parts of the fauna-flora-habitat area Haseder Busch, Giesener Berge, Gallberg, Finkenberg (FFH no. 3825-301; 7 , 42 km² ). Except for the grove north of the summit, the elevation is woodless.
Traffic and walking
North past the Gallberg, between Emmerke and Moritzberg, Bundesstrasse 1 leads in a west-east direction , from which the road axis Himmelsthürer Strasse - Am Propsteihof branches off as the main road leading through Moritzberg to the south. For example, on this street or on its side streets that lead east of the elevation through residential areas, the Gallberg can be hiked.
