Gatões is a locality and former municipality in Portugal .
history
The place is first mentioned as Gatones in the sixth century AD. In the 18th century, Gatões was the collective name for some smaller towns within the municipality of Seixo (now Seixo de Gatões ) before it split into an independent municipality in 1936.
As part of the municipal reorganization of Portugal , the municipality of Gatões was dissolved on September 29, 2013 and merged with Montemor-o-Velho.

Until 2013 Gatões was a municipality ( freguesia ) in the Portuguese district of Montemor-o-Velho . On June 30, 2011 the community had 522 inhabitants on an area of 5.6 km².

- Casal de Nossa Senhora
- Casal de S. João
- Gatões
- São Jorge
- Serrinha
- Vale Grande
On September 29, 2013, the community was dissolved and merged with Montemor-o-Velho to União das Freguesias de Montemor-o-Velho e Gatões . The seat of the new municipality was Montemor-o-Velho, but the municipal administration in Gatões remained as a local citizens' office.
