Meãs do Campo is a town and municipality in Portugal .
history
The village was created as part of the Repoblación settlement policy during the Christian Reconquista . Initially known as Póvoa , it was later named Meãs . In the royal registers of 1527 Meãs was noted with 52 households. During the various administrative reforms after the Liberal Revolution in 1822 , Meãs was briefly an independent district in 1832, to become a municipality of the Tentúgal district in 1840 . Since its dissolution in 1853, Meãs do Campo has belonged to Montemor-o-Velho.
