Liceia is a town and municipality in Portugal .

history

The current town was probably created during the Christian Reconquista . It was first documented as Licena in 1099 . The area belonged to the Santa Cruz Monastery in Coimbra until it fell back to the Portuguese crown in the 15th century . Since then Liceia has belonged to the Cadima County . Since its dissolution in 1853, Liceia has been a municipality in the Montemor-o-Velho district.
