Gaudenzio Bonfigli

Gaudenzio Bonfigli OFM (* 6. March 1831 in Matelica , province of Macerata , Papal States ; † 6. April 1904 ) was a Roman Catholic archbishop and diplomat of the Holy See .

Life

Gaudenzio Bonfigli joined the Congregation of the Franciscan and laid in 1846 the perpetual profession from. He received in 1853 the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On August 19, 1881 Pope Leo XIII appointed him . the titular bishop of Casius and ordered him to auxiliary bishop in Aleppo . The Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem , Vincenzo Bracco , donated him episcopal ordination on November 13 of the same year ; Co-consecrator was the Apostolic Delegate in Syria , Luigi Piavi OFM.

Pope Leo XIII. appointed him on August 19, 1890 titular Archbishop of Cabasa and appointed him to the Apostolic Delegate in Syria. Gaudenzio Bonfigli became an Apostolic Delegate in Egypt on February 25, 1896 .
