The Gauliga , from January 1940: Regional League Nordmark 1939/40 was the seventh season of the regional or regional league Nordmark in football. After the start of the war , the championship was first canceled (two games had taken place) and replaced by point rounds at the local level, but then as a "war championship" with a delayed start. The league was expanded to include additional participants and, because of the advanced time, divided into two groups of six and seven teams respectively. The respective group winners qualified for the final of the area championship. The champion was the Eimsbütteler TV , which prevailed against the Hamburger SV . Eimsbütteler TV qualified for the final round of the German championship , but dropped out after the group stage. The two area league groups were relegated to the district class. Phoenix Lübeck had withdrawn during the season. Fortuna Glückstadt and Wilhelmsburg 09 were promoted from the district classes .
