The Eichenberg is a mountain in the Lower Franconian district of Main-Spessart in Bavaria .

geography

The mountain is located in the Bavarian Spessart Nature Park between Frammersbach and Ruppertshütten . It separates the Lohr and Sindersbach valleys . The two peaks of the Eichenberg are - 750 meters apart - on the boundary of the Frammersbacher Forest . They are separated by a saddle over which a forest road leads. Neither forest roads nor hiking trails lead to both peaks, only aisles , one connects the two peaks over the saddle. However, Hessenweg 9 runs as close as possible to the east of the two peaks. Both elevations are provided with small cuboids, the one on the higher summit (544 m, dominance 2 km, notch height 40.5 m) denotes a high point , the one on the lower (542 m) a trigonometric point .

The state border with Hesse runs north in a distance of 2 km. 880 meters to the west is the Glass Holy , followed by the gently sloping ridge of the Ernsthöhe . North of the Eichenberg, the Hermannskoppe lies in front of the Lohrberg in the Ruppertshüttener Forest , whose highest point at 537 meters (dominance 0.6 km, notch height 7 m) is barely recognizable to hikers due to the flat top and its exact location is shown differently on different maps. In its immediate vicinity, 300 meters from the Hessian border, there is an iron signpost with naive pictograms ( Frammersbach coat of arms , locomotive, shelter, beer mug) in the direction of Frammersbach, Partenstein , the Rinderbachtal and the Bavarian Schanz. To the southeast, 5.4 km from Eichenberg, is the Katharinenbild , with the Gaulskopf (519 m) in between.
