The Gehrner Berg is 1936  m above sea level. NN high mountain peaks of the Allgäu Alps on German territory, over which the German - Austrian border runs.

Geographical location

The Gehrner Berg belongs to the southeastern Walsertal mountains . The highest point of the summit is a few meters north of the border line on German territory. The gap height of the Gehrner Berg is at least 76 meters, its dominance about 600 meters, with the Haldenwanger Kopf ( 2002  m above sea level ) being the reference mountain . It rises about 17 km south-southwest of Oberstdorf and directly north of Warth and northwest of Lechleiten . The east-north-east neighboring mountain is the Grüner ( 1913  m above sea level ), the east- south- east the Hundskopf ( 2050  m above sea level ) and the western neighboring dome the Haldenwanger Eck ( 1930.6  m above sea level ). To the north the landscape drops directly into the valley of the small Haldenwanger Bach , the water of which runs northeast and flows over the Rappenalpenbach into the Stillach , and to the south it drops into the valley of the Krumbach , which runs there through Warth and Lechleiten, which runs southeast into the Lech flows.

The boundary stone 147 , the southernmost point of Germany, is located about 140 m south and 360 m west of the Gehrner Berg . The Gehrner Berg is the southernmost mountain peak in Germany.

Protected areas

North of the Gehrner Berg there are three protected areas of the same name in Germany: the Allgäu High Alps nature reserve founded in 1992 and measuring 207.95 km² (NSG No. 64661), the 212.27 km² fauna, flora and habitat area Allgäu High Alps (FFH No. . 8528-301) and the 207.99 km² bird sanctuary in the Allgäu High Alps (VSG no. 8528-401).
