Attractions

On a hill fortified with walls stands the St. Nicholas Church , which was partially renovated in 1863 and whose three-wedge tower dates from the first half of the 16th century and which was restored in 1997. The church is not available for worship in 2013 due to ongoing interior renovation.

On the top of the nearby Weiherberg lies the well-known pilgrimage chapel “Maria von der Immerwistentenden Hilfe”. It was built in 1945/46, but after a fire in April 2003 it was completely destroyed. One year after the fire, the chapel was rebuilt and now shines in new splendor.

In the center of the village is the meadow with a linden tree, opposite is a fountain in front of the former seat of the municipal administration.

education

The Konstantin Gutberlet Primary School, renovated in 2010, is located in Geismar. Around 100 children from Geismar and the surrounding area are taught here. The place also houses a Catholic kindergarten, which is attended by around 70 children from the surrounding villages.

Club life

Life in the village is shaped by numerous active clubs, such as the sports club SV Geismar 1952 eV, the Geismar volunteer fire brigade, the Geismarer Kirmesgesellschaft eV, the church choir and the Geismarer Carnival Club GKC eV.

Since 2012, there has been a game community between SV Geismar and SV Borsch in the field of men's soccer teams, whose 1st team plays in the regional class West and which is represented by a total of three teams. In addition, the SV Geismar provides a women's team, which was the most recent success with the district cup win 12/13, an old men team and several junior teams in a syndicate with the clubs SV Borsch and SV Buttlar . The SV Geismar sports field is considered to be one of the most beautiful in the district.

The carnival in Geismar with its events and the annual large carnival parade (on Sunday, eight days before Shrove Monday) is known far beyond the local borders.
