Otzbach is a district of Geisa in the Wartburg district in Thuringia .

location

Otzbach is located northeast of Geisa about 500 meters north of the state road 1026 from Geisa to Dermbach at the foot of the 572 meter high Arzberg with the nature reserve of the same name . The neighboring district of Geblar is 1000 meters south . The corridor of the district is located in the Rhön Biosphere Reserve . The geographic height of the place is 431  m above sea level. NHN .

history

The first documented mention of the village took place in 1130. Otzbach belonged to the Hessian Oberamt Fulda until 1815 and in 1815 it was affiliated with other places of the Geisa office to the later administrative district of Dermbach of the Thuringian Grand Duchy of Saxony-Weimar-Eisenach . At the time of the GDR , the place was in the restricted area of the inner-German border , but you were not directly on the border. In 1974 Geblar was incorporated into Otzbach, and both places were incorporated into Geisa in 1994. Today 133 inhabitants live in the district.
