The administrative district of Dermbach , also called IV. Administrative district , existed from 1850 to 1922 in the Grand Duchy of Saxony-Weimar-Eisenach and in the Free State of Saxony-Weimar-Eisenach . The district headquarters was in Dermbach . The area of the former administrative district is now part of the Wartburg district and the Schmalkalden-Meiningen district in Thuringia and the Rhön-Grabfeld district in Bavaria .

history

The Grand Duchy of Saxony-Weimar-Eisenach was divided into five administrative districts in 1850, which were comparable in size to rural districts . The administrative district of Dermbach, also known as the IV. Administrative district , comprised the southern part of the former duchy of Saxony-Eisenach , which was also known as the Eisenacher district in the 19th century . The exclaves Zillbach and Ostheim vor der Rhön also belonged to the administrative district ; the latter has belonged to Bavaria since 1945.

In 1918 the Grand Duchy of Saxony-Weimar-Eisenach became the Free State of Saxony-Weimar-Eisenach , which in turn became part of the State of Thuringia on May 1, 1920 . In the course of a comprehensive regional reform, the Dermbach administrative district was dissolved in 1922. The city of Ostheim vor der Rhön as well as the communities Birx , Frankenheim / Rhön , Helmershausen , Melpers , Sondheim vor der Rhön , Stetten, Urspringen, Wohlmuthausen and Zillbach came to the district of Meiningen , while all other cities and communities came to the district of Eisenach .
