Genç ( Armenian Kants , Zazaisch Darahêni ; about fountain with trees ) is a city and its district ( Ilçe ) in the province of Bingöl in Turkey .

The district is located in the south of the province and borders there with the Diyarbakır Province and the Elâzığ Province in the west . On average, Genç is 1000 m above sea level.

In the Ottoman Empire , the name was Darahini ( داراهيني). From 1924 to 1927 Genç was an independent province and was then added to the province of Elâzığ and then in 1936 to Bingöl.

Zaza and Kurmanji are the most common languages ​​in the county.

The district town of Genç is home to around 43 percent of the district's population. The rest is spread over the 68 villages ( Köy ), which are inhabited by an average of 322 inhabitants. Two of the villages have over a thousand inhabitants: Servi (1,138) and Yayla (1,032 inh.),
