Yayladere ( Kurdish Xorxol ) is a city and a district in the Turkish province of Bingöl .
The district is the smallest in the province. It is bordered by Tunceli Province to the north and west and Elazığ Province to the south . The river Peri Çayı forms the natural border to Elazığ. The area is about 1,600 m above sea level . The mountains reach heights of up to 2,800 m. The two largest are the Sülbüs / Selbuz (2,884 m) and Sultan Mehmet / Taru .
Yayladere County was established on July 4, 1987 and includes the former Bucak Yaladere. He belonged to the Kiğı County until his independence. Yaladere has the lowest population of all counties in the province. Many Alevis also live in the district . Almost half (45%) of the residents live in the district town. The district still includes 20 villages ( Köy ), which have only a small average population (59 inhabitants per village). With 154 inhabitants, Dalbasan is the largest village.
Many villages stand empty because the population was expelled during the PKK conflict with the state. Most moved to big cities like Istanbul .

history
In addition to the Hurrites , the Urartians , Medes , Persians and Romans also settled in Yayladere . After the infiltration of the Turkic peoples in the 11th century, Yayladere fell to the Turkmens in 1071 with the defeat of the Byzantines against the Seljuks . The local Saltukid dynasty ruled here from 1080–1201 . The Turkmen Uzun Hasan ruled here until 1473. In 1514 Yayladere fell to the Ottomans . Yayladere has been part of the Turkish Republic since 1923. The old name Xolxol was replaced by Turkish names in 1959, like all old Kurdish and Armenian village and field names.
