Çalıkağıl ( Kurdish : Maskan-ı Herdif or short Herdif ) is a village in the district yayladere the Turkish province of Bingol . Çalıkağıl is located about 20 km north of the district capital Yayladere. The village is located in a mountainous region at 1,730 m above sea level, not far from the border with the province of Tunceli . Çalıkağıl was deserted in 2000 and, according to the population update, had a total of 62 inhabitants at the end of 2010.
Until the genocide , the village was inhabited by Armenians who worked as craftsmen for the surrounding villages. Her craftsmanship was also reflected in the architecture of the village. Only then is the Maskan tribe supposed to have settled in the village. The Kurdish name was recorded in the land register in the form "Meskanıherdif".
In 1994 Çalıkağıl and the surrounding area were the scene of fierce fighting between the army and the PKK . Guerrilla fighters from the then so-called ARGK attacked the local gendarmerie barracks and killed 12 soldiers. As part of this conflict, the village was destroyed by the army three years later for security reasons and given up by the villagers. Slow resettlement began in 2000. The number of residents is currently (as of 2010) depending on the season. Many residents only spend the summer in Çalıkağıl. The residents feel they belong to Dersim . In Çalıkağıl the distribution area of Zaza begins .
In 2005, PKK forces kidnapped Mayor Yayladeres near Çalıkağıl.
