Yavuztaş ( Kurdish : Taru ) is a village in the Yayladere district of the Turkish province of Bingöl . Yavuztaş is a mountain village on the slopes of the Sülbüs Dağı in eastern Anatolia . It is 1,790 m above sea level . The distance to the district town of Yayladere is 5 km.
The original name was Taru. Taru was identified as non-Muslim in Ottoman documents of the 16th century. The name Taru is still recorded in the land register and was also used as an alternative name in the 1970 and 1980 censuses.
In 1970 there were 324 residents in Yavuztaş. For economic reasons, numerous residents left the village in the 1970s. In 1980 there were 168 people living there and in 1991 there were 85. In 1997 and 2000 the village was uninhabited. In 2010 the village again had 19 inhabitants.
