Korlu ( Kurdish : Şêxan ) is a village in the Yayladere district in the Turkish province of Bingöl . Korlu is located in Eastern Anatolia . The village is located on a slope above the Özlüce reservoir at 1300 m above sea level , in the immediate vicinity of the village of Günlük and Lake Korlu , 12 km southeast of Yayladere.

The original name was Şeyhan. The village population traces this name back to a Sheikh Harun who is said to have lived in the 16th century. The name Şeyhan is also recorded in the land register. In 1973 there were still 439 inhabitants. In 2010 the village still had 44 inhabitants.

After the military coup in 1980 , numerous villagers left the village due to the repression. In the mid-1990s, at the height of the clashes between the military and the PKK , forests near the village and a few days later some houses were burned. Except for a few old people the village was given up. In 1998 some houses were rebuilt. Since then, the population has fluctuated seasonally. Former villagers spend their summer holidays in Korlu.

In 2007, PKK activists kidnapped two forest workers in Korlu and then released them.
