Georg August (Erbach-Schönberg)
Georg August, Count of Erbach-Schönberg (born June 17, 1691 in Waldenburg , † March 29, 1758 in König (Odenwald) ), was the founder of the Erbach-Schönberg line and evangelical denomination.
origin
His parents were Georg Albrecht II Posthumus Count zu Erbach (1648-1717) and his wife Anna Dorothea Christina, née Countess zu Hohenlohe-Waldenburg (1656-1724). When the inheritance was divided, three brothers were still alive:
- Philipp Karl (1677–1736), he founded the Erbach-Fürstenau line
- Georg Wilhelm (1686–1757), he founded the Erbach-Erbach line
- Georg August (1691–1758) founded the Erbach-Schönberg line
Life
After training with private tutors, he came to the University of Giessen in 1711 and the University of Leipzig in 1712 . He then went on his Grand Tour until his father died in 1717 and he was now the ruling count. With the division of the estate, he became the founder of the younger line at Schönberg. After the older line of Erbach was extinguished in 1747, half of the reign of Breuberg and the offices of Schönberg and König also fell to him.
He began to expand his residential palace in König and was the builder of the churches in Reichenbach , Rimbach and König. For his house he led the primogeniture in 1748 , the imperial confirmation required for this came in 1752. He was also a real imperial councilor and director of the Franconian counts' college.
He was buried in Gronau .
