Gustav Ernst zu Erbach-Schönberg (1739–1812)
Gustav Ernst zu Erbach-Schönberg also Gustav Emil (born April 27, 1739 at Schönberg Castle in the Odenwald; † February 1812 in Zwingenberg an der Bergstrasse ) was a French colonel , Prussian major general and Count of Erbach-Schönberg .
origin
His parents were the ruling Count Georg August zu Erbach-Schönberg (* June 16, 1691; † March 22, 1758) and his wife Countess Ferdinande Henriette zu Stolberg-Gedern (* October 2, 1699; † January 31, 1750). His father was also a real Reichshofrat and director of the Frankish counts' college. His brother was the ruling count and Austrian general Karl Eugen zu Erbach-Schönberg .
Life
He became a French captain in 1758 . In the Seven Years' War he fought on their side against the Prussians. In 1768 he became a colonel in the Royal Deux Ponts Infantry Regiment . In the following years he worked with the Prussians and win numerous recruits convey . In gratitude for this he received on November 3, 1803 from the Prussian King Friedrich Wilhelm III. the character as major general. In 1807 he was awarded the Order of the Red Eagle . He died in February 1812 in Zwingenberg an der Bergstrasse.

He married Countess Henriette Christiane zu Stolberg-Stolberg on August 3, 1782 in Stollberg (* August 3, 1759, † January 21, 1816). The couple had the following children:
