Georg Boguslav (Bogislaw) von Wobeser (born April 4, 1653 in Zirchow , † December 1, 1724 in Pillau ) was a Prussian lieutenant general and from 1697 to 1722 in command of Pillau.

Life

He comes from the Pomeranian noble family von Wobeser and was the son of the landlord and Stolper district administrator Peter von Wobeser († 1658), lord on Zirchow, Vieschen, Dresow and on Alt- and Neugutzmerow. His mother was Frieda Adelheid von Pirch from the Kose family.

As early as 1669 Wobeser entered the military service of Elector Friedrich Wilhelm . After serving in the "Truchseß" battalion , he served in the "Dohna on foot" regiment . In 1684 he became captain and took part in the Turkish campaign of 1686 in the siege of Ofen (1684/1686) . A mine exploded near him, so that from then on he had severe burn scars on his face. His brother Hans Friedrich fell in the heavy attack on Ofen. In 1691 he was promoted to major in the "Dohna" regiment and on October 7, 1697 to colonel . At the same time he was appointed commandant of Pillau, which he remained until 1722. In 1705 he became major general and in 1712 received the order Pour le Mérite . He was appointed chief of the newly established garrison regiment (No. II) in Pillau on February 12, 1717 and on June 17, 1718 he became lieutenant general.

He was landlord on Alt - and Neugutzmerow , later on Gohren , Linkau , Gauten and Korjeiten .

family

Wobeser married Clara Erdmuthe von Stojentin from the Gohren family, the daughter of Heinrich Peter von Stojentin († 1694) and Ursula Maria von Massow . The couple had at least one son and one daughter. The son Peter was later President of the Neumark Chamber. The daughter Clara Constantia von Wobeser (1710–1779) married Bogislaw Ulrich von Puttkamer († 1740 ) in 1725 and was the mother of General Georg Henning von Puttkamer .
