Georg Cramer

Georg Cramer (born June 12, 1610 in Bachra , † February 15, 1676 in Leipzig ) was a German educator.

Life

Cramer first attended a school in Kölleda and later the Martineum (Halberstadt) and the Ratsgymnasium Minden . From 1624 he studied at the University of Leipzig . In 1633 he became Tertius at the St. Thomas School in Leipzig . A year later he took over the post of rectorate . From 1640 to 1676 he was principal of the school for many years ; In 1675 he received the substitute Johann Joachim Gesenius . During his tenure in 1648, the end of the Thirty Years' War fell , with the consequences of which many students had to struggle. The city of Leipzig met the poor conditions at the school with higher financial donations. During his rectorate were u. a. Directed theatrical performances. Cramer was also Professor publicus. His successor as rector was Jakob Thomasius .
