Georg Egmont Oehme
Georg Egmont Oehme (born January 31, 1890 in Dresden as Hermann Bruno Georg Oehme ; † February 17, 1955 ibid) was a German painter and art teacher.
Life
Georg Oehme was the son of the Dresden master upholsterer August Hermann Oehme, who later traded in antique furniture. His brother was Hanns Oehme .
After graduating from high school, Georg Oehme studied from 1908 to 1911 at the Royal Saxon School of Applied Arts under Oskar Zwintscher and as a master student of Gotthardt Kuehl at the Dresden Art Academy . From 1911 to 1912 he worked as a private tutor for drawing and painting in Russia . Study stays in Friesland and Holland are also known. From 1913 he was a teacher at the art school in Braunschweig . In 1914 he married Gertrud Zocher, daughter of a music dealer. The marriage produced a son and a daughter. From 1923 to 1926 he was a teacher at the old Dresden art school for women and men by Guido Richter. Wilhelm Lachnit temporarily worked in Oehme's studio. In 1921 he portrayed Otto Dix . After teaching at the Old Dresden Art School, he worked as a freelancer. In 1943 he was represented with works at the Great Dresden Art Exhibition of the Dresdner Künstlerbund in the exhibition building Brühlsche Terrasse . In addition to Dresden, he was also involved in exhibitions in Berlin and Munich . In 1944 he was appointed professor.
Oehme mainly painted landscapes, flower still lifes and portraits. He was a member of the artists' council of the Dresden Art Cooperative and in several artist associations, including the Saxon Art Association and the Association of Visual Artists of the GDR . His artistic estate was managed by his former student Hildegard Böhme by family resolution based on the will . Some of his works are in public collections.
Oehme died in Dresden in 1955 and was buried in the Outer Plauen cemetery .
