Georg Heilingsetzer

Georg Heilingsetzer (born August 14, 1945 in Mondsee ) is an Austrian historian and archivist .

Life

Growing up as the son of two high school teacher in Vienna , studied Georg Heilingsetzer at the city's University of Law , History and Art History ( PhD 1970), where he is also a member of the Institute for Austrian Historical Research was (state exam 1971). He then worked as a scientific official at the Upper Austrian Provincial Archives in Linz , since 1989 as deputy director (retired at the end of 2004). From 1985 Georg Heilingsetzer held teaching positions at the Institute for History at the University of Vienna and has been honorary professor for Austrian history there since 2001. He belonged and belongs to numerous scientific associations and advisory boards, including the Society for Regional Studies and Monument Preservation Upper Austria (formerly Upper Austrian Museum Association , President 1991-1994) and the Anton Bruckner Institute Linz . In 1979 he received the Theodor Körner Prize and in 2006 the Austrian Cross of Honor for Science and Art, First Class .

His main research interests are in the early modern period , but also include topics from the Middle Ages to the 20th century . This applies above all to Austrian history and the Upper Austrian state and regional history. The focus often were also noble and Corporatism , the Enlightenment of the 18th century and the political and cultural relations between Austria and France and especially England.

Georg Heilingsetzer has been married to Rafaela (née Maier) since 1973 and has a daughter and a son.
