Georg Heinrich Krieg von Hochfelden (born February 18, 1798 in Rastatt ; † December 11, 1860 in Baden-Baden ) was a major general from Baden and a military writer.

Life

Georg Heinrich was born the son of Georg Krieg von Hochfelden, a margravial councilor from Baden , and his wife Margaretha. He attended the Lyceum in Rastatt and joined the Baden Army in 1815 . In the same year he was appointed lieutenant in the artillery , in 1826 appointed to the side of the later Grand Duke Leopold von Baden . In 1829 he was promoted to captain and in 1830 to his wing adjutant .

He had official business with the pastor and politician Franz Josef Herr (1778–1837), son of Grand Duke Karl Friedrich . This dealt with the state history of the early 19th century and enthusiastic War von Hochfelden for the state history, which received access to state files and archives and was able to write its publications. After the pastor's death in 1837, Krieg von Hochfelden was made a major , in 1847 a colonel and in 1851 he was finally appointed military representative for the state at the Frankfurt Bundestag . As major general three years later he retired in May 1854 and lived with his wife Anna in Baden-Baden after a short stay in Heidelberg .

War of Hochfelden was u. a. Member of the Baden Antiquities Association, the Association for Patriotic Antiquities in Zurich, the Historical Association for the Württemberg Franconia and the Association for Research into Rhenish History and Antiquities in Mainz.

His tombstone in the old Lichtental cemetery is still partially preserved.
