Georg Karl (politician, 1936)

Georg Karl (born April 9, 1936 in Landshut ; † May 25, 2019 in Deggendorf ) was a German politician ( CSU ), district administrator and Bavarian senator.

education

He attended the elementary school in Pfeffenhausen and the humanistic grammar school at Kloster Metten . He left this in 1954 with the Abitur. He studied law in Munich and Kiel and worked as a trainee lawyer in Kiel, Munich and Erding . In 1958 he passed the first state examination and in 1962 the second.

job

Karl became an assessor in the government of Lower Bavaria in 1963 . He later became a legal state official in the district office in Kötzting and from 1972 to 1978 in the Deggendorfer district office.

politics

In 1978 he was elected to the district administrator of the Deggendorf district, which he held until his retirement in 2002.

The Deggendorf district was the first in Bavaria to introduce district archeology during his tenure. In addition, he ensured that schools in the district were optimized, restructured the hospital system and promoted the transport infrastructure. The Infohaus Isar estuary was created on the initiative of Karl.

Karl was married and had a son and a daughter.

Awards

Karl's merits were honored with the Bavarian Order of Merit , the Order of Merit 1st Class of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Communal Medal of Merit in gold . He was the bearer of the Golden Ring of Honor of the Deggendorf district.
