The Georg Ots (1980–1992 and since 2002 Russian Георг Отс ) was a ferry that last belonged to the Russian government and was operated as a hotel ship during the Asia-Pacific Economic Forum in autumn 2012. It was named after the Estonian singer Georg Ots . In 2013 the ship was chartered to China and illegally scrapped there.
history
The Georg Ots was built on April 23, 1979 with the hull number B 493-1 / 1 at the Polish shipyard Stocznia Szczecińska im. Adolfa Warskiego in Szczecin on down Kiel . On November 10, 1979, took place launching . The ship's godmother was Elvi Koolmeister, an Estonian worker from the V. Klementi sewing factory. The ship is based on the series of seven ships of the Dmitriy Shostakovich class produced from 1980 to 1986 , but was further developed and referred to as the Project B-493 Georg Ots class.

In 2002 the ship was sold to Russia , where it was given its original - Cyrillic - name. It was used on the Pillau - Saint Petersburg route until 2010 .
On October 9, 2010 the Georg Ots reached Vladivostok . She was modernized there by the Primorye region for 200,000,000 rubles (the equivalent of approx. 5 million euros -2012) and used as a hotel ship during the Asia-Pacific Economic Forum in Vladivostok in 2012. In 2013, the ship was chartered to China for the equivalent of 7,500 euros per month. The company there, however, did not pay any of the rents that the Georg Ots had to pay and was therefore sued by the ship's owner. In the meantime, the Georg Ots was illegally sold for scrapping and dismantled in a Chinese scrap yard.
Drive through the Northeast Passage
In the late summer of 2010, the ship passed the northeast passage from Murmansk to Anadyr from 10 to 26 September with icebreaker support . It is the first passenger ship that was not also designed as an icebreaker to cross the Northeast Passage.
Incidents
On April 28, 2012, while the ship was in the shipyard, an accident occurred in which a leak occurred and all propeller blades were damaged. The use of the ship as a hotel at the Asia Pacific Economic Forum was then questioned.
