Georg Wilhelm von Lüttwitz

Georg Wilhelm von Lüttwitz (* 1648 ; † May 22, 1693 ) was a major general and governor of Brandenburg .

Life

Georg was a member of the Silesian noble family Lüttwitz . His parents were the heir to Bronau and Wehlefronze in the district of Guhrau , Christoph von Lüttwitz (born June 3, 1622, † November 29, 1682) and Hedwig von Uechtritz . On December 18, 1683, he married the margravial court master Caroline von Oldenburg in Potsdam . The marriage resulted in at least one son, Albert Friedrich von Lüttwitz, who took his leave on September 19, 1741 as colonel and commander of the "Bayreuth" dragoon regiment .

Lüttwitz was a major in Brandenburg in 1677 and took part in the siege of Stettin in the Pomeranian campaign. In 1678 he was commander of the "Hessen-Homburg" regiment on horseback and on February 20, 1679, he was promoted to colonel of the cavalry. On September 10, 1683, he took over a company in the "Margrave Ludwig" regiment on horseback and in 1687 became chief of this regiment. He was promoted to major general on October 16, 1687.

Controversially, on the other hand, Lüttwitz is said not to have died until 1695, or to have lived in 1696 and to have been governor of Prussian Holland .
