George Bowers

George Bowers (born July 6, 1944 in New York City , † August 18, 2012 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American film editor and film director .

Life

After three years in the army, he worked for a firm owned by Hugh A. Robertson , through which he came into contact with film editing . Since 1971 he has worked as an independent editor and was involved in more than 25 productions by 2008. In 1976 he made his debut as a director and directed an episode of the Vegetable Soup series . In 1980 he shot the horror film Der Leichenwagen, his first feature film, and up to and including 1985 three more followed.

Directors with whom he worked several times were Penny Marshall and Joseph Ruben .

In 1969 he married. The marriage has two children.

Bowers died as a result of complications during heart surgery.
