George Draga

George Draga (born April 26, 1935 in Aldeşti , Arad district , † October 3, 2008 in Braşov , Braşov district ) was a Romanian composer .

Draga studied from 1946 to 1954 at the College of Military Music with Hans Hoerath and Dumitru Văsescu (clarinet), Alexandru Teodorescu and George Manoliu (violin), Constantin A. Ionescu (music theory and solfège ), Anastasie Danu (theory of harmony) and Ion Totan (orchestration ). At the Bucharest Conservatory from 1957 to 1963 he studied with Victor Iușceanu (theory and solfège), Ion Dumitrescu (harmony), Nicolae Buicliu (counterpoint), Anatol Vieru (composition and orchestration), Alexandru Pașcanu (instrumental theory), Tudor Ciortea (musical Form), Zeno Vancea (music history), Tiberiu Alexandru and Emilia Comișel (folklore), Dumitru D. Botez (choir conductor) and Madeleine Cocorăscu (piano accompaniment).

From 1963 to 1993 he worked for the magazine of the Romanian composers' union Musica , where he a. a. Analyzes of works by Aurel Stroe , Ștefan Niculescu , Tiberiu Olah , Wilhelm Berger , Cornel Țăranu and Zeno Vancea published. He also gave music lectures in various cities in Romania. From 1993 to 1998 he was a museographer at the George Enescu Museum in Bucharest.

In addition to fourteen symphonies, Drage composed several instrumental concerts and other symphonic works, chamber music, cantatas and other choral works and songs.
