Georges Hausemer
Georges Hausemer (born February 1, 1957 in Differdange ; † August 13, 2018 ) was a Luxembourgish writer and translator who also used the pseudonym Theo Selmer .
Life
After attending grammar school in Echternach , he studied French and Romance studies (with a focus on Spanish) in Salzburg and Mainz until 1981 and then worked as a freelance writer, translator and travel journalist. Until 2008 he worked as a lecturer and editor for the Éditions Guy Binsfeld. He lived in Esch an der Alzette , and from 2013 in Luxembourg City .
He went on numerous study trips to Africa, Latin America, Asia and Southern Europe and was a member of the Cassandra Thing writers' association . His reports and essays have appeared in the FAZ , NZZ , SZ and Luxemburger Wort , among others . In the 1980s he translated numerous science fiction books into German for Heyne Verlag .
He was a founding member of the Luxembourg Writers' Union in 1986 and directed it for several years. In addition to fiction texts, he also published travel guides, reports and non-fiction books such as the one about the controversial nursing scientist Erwin Böhm . In 2006 he was editor of the Luxemburger Lexikons , the current reference work on the Luxembourg cultural scene.
