Volvo Penta TAMD 74A

The Gerd is a Swedish cable ferry operated by the Trafikverket Färjerederiet . The ship with the internal number 62/342 uses the Kornhallsleden , the ferry connection between Brunstorpsnäs and Kornhall on the Nordre älv in Bohuslän .

history

The ferry was built under construction number 23149 at the Finnish shipyard Uudenkaupungin Työvene. The launch took place on June 17, 2004. In August 2004 the ship was towed from Nystad to Lysekil , where it arrived in the Fridhems Varv on August 25th. During the transfer in 2004, the tug had dented one side. A large amount of water got into the hull and destroyed parts of the electrical equipment. The repair took place in the Fridhems Varv. This was followed by the handover to Vägverket färjerederiet in Vaxholm . With the transfer from Vägverket to Trafikverket, the ferry has been owned by Trafikverket Färjerederiet since April 1, 2010.

Technical Equipment

The cable ferry is since 2017 with two winches , the two electric motors, each with 30  kW power , moved to be driven. The ferry previously had a diesel drive.

The ferry is equipped with a diesel generator to generate electricity in the event of an interruption to the shore-side power supply. The generator is driven by a Volvo Penta diesel engine (type: TAMD 74A) with an output of 143 kW.

Kornhallsleden

The ship operates on the Kornhallsleden, also called Kornhalls färja ( German  Kornhalls ferry ). The ferry route is along route 570. The ferry route is 200 meters and the crossing time is two minutes. The crossing is free of charge.
