Gerd Staegemann

Gerd Staegemann (born January 15, 1927 in Stettin ; † May 15, 1995 in Dresden ) was a German dentist and professor at the Medical Academy "Carl Gustav Carus" in Dresden. In addition, he was politically active in the National Democratic Party of Germany .

Life

He was the son of a dentist. After completing the so-called Notabitur in Stettin, Staegemann was drafted into the Wehrmacht in 1944. After being a prisoner of war, he was able to start studying dentistry at the reopened Ernst Moritz Arndt University of Greifswald in the spring of 1946 . Staegemann received his license to practice medicine as a dentist as early as 1949 . At the same time he took up a position as a research assistant and lecturer at the Greifswald University Clinic for Dental, Oral and Jaw Diseases. In 1950 Staegemann received his doctorate in Greifswald with the dissertation "Free transplants of tooth germs in dog experiments ", and in 1957 he was appointed senior physician. In 1958 he completed his habilitation with the scientific thesis “Foreign Body Effects” and in 1959 was appointed lecturer for dentistry, oral and maxillofacial medicine at the University of Greifswald. On January 1, 1961, he was certified as a general practitioner.

On September 1, 1961, he was appointed professor with a teaching position for dentistry and head of the prosthetic department at the stomatological clinic of the Dresden Medical Academy . On December 1, 1963 he was appointed professor with a full teaching assignment and on September 1, 1964 he was appointed professor with a chair for dental, oral and maxillofacial medicine and director of the stomatological clinic and polyclinic. At the same time he became head of department for stomatology . In 1983 Staegemann took over the directorate of the Polyclinic for Prosthetic Stomatology of the Stomatology Section at the Medical Academy Dresden. Upon reaching the age limit, Staegemann retired in 1992.

Political activity

Staegemann had been a member of the NDPD since 1950 . In 1967 he became a member of the Dresden District Committee of the NDPD. From 1963 he was the successor to the People's Chamber , from 1966 to 1990 a member of the People's Chamber. Staegemann was also nominated for the People's Chamber election in 1990 and moved into the first freely elected People's Chamber as one of only two NDPD members.
