Gerda Müller (born July 30, 1894 in Tornienen ( East Prussia ), † April 26, 1951 in Berlin ) was a German actress.

Müller studied at the Max Reinhardt School of the German Theater in Berlin, today's drama school "Ernst Busch". From 1917 to 1922 she was employed at the Schauspielhaus in Frankfurt am Main , where she played in the world premiere of Arnolt Bronnen's play Patermord . In 1922 she went to Berlin to see Leopold Jessner at the State Theater there , at that time one of the most renowned theaters in Germany. In addition, she also played in Berlin at the Deutsches Theater, the Lessing Theater and the Schiller Theater under important directors such as Heinz Hilpert , Jürgen Fehling and Bertolt Brecht .

In 1927 she married the conductor Hermann Scherchen , from whom she was divorced after a short time. This was preceded by various affairs, including with Carl Zuckmayer , who referred to her as a Lithuanian she-wolf because of her vital appearance . In his second marriage in 1931 , Müller married the then Lord Mayor of Königsberg , Hans Lohmeyer . After 1933, due to her marriage to Lohmeyer, who was removed from office by the National Socialists , she had a difficult position on German theaters and largely withdrew into private life - also because of a serious lung disease. In 1945 she appeared again when the Deutsches Theater reopened, played again until her death and also taught at the Academy of Drama. Shortly before her death she received in 1951 for her portrayal of Brecht's Mother Courage the National Prize of East Germany .
