Gerhard Kneib

Gerhard Kneib (born August 27, 1941 in Zornheim ) is a German politician ( CDU ).

Life

Gerhard Kneib comes from a fruit and wine-growing business in Zornheim ( Rheinhessen wine-growing region ), which he later ran as an independent fruit grower with his wife. His training included an agricultural and fruit growing apprenticeship as well as attending an agricultural college. In 1969 he passed the examination as a master gardener, specializing in fruit growing.

He is married and has four kids.

Political activities

In the 1960s, Gerhard Kneib was state chairman and deputy federal chairman of the Catholic rural youth movement and regional chairman of the Catholic rural people movement .

Kneib joined the CDU in 1958 and was later elected chairman of the Zornheim CDU branch. In 1968 he was elected to the Zornheim municipal council. From 1975 to 1996 he was a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament . During his membership in the state parliament he was temporarily a member of the state executive of the CDU Rhineland-Palatinate .

Political priorities included representing the interests of agriculture, for example as deputy chairman of the federal agricultural committee of the CDU and as chairman of the state agricultural committee of the CDU Rhineland-Palatinate, as well as chairman of the agricultural committee of the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament.

He also held various offices in institutions of his profession. He represented his professional body in the Rhineland-Palatinate Chamber of Agriculture - as a member of the plenary assembly and later also as a board member, as well as a member of the budget and finance committee, as chairman of the fruit, vegetable and tobacco growing committee and as chairman of the viticulture committee. Towards the end of his political career he was Vice President of the Chamber. He was also President of the Fruit and Vegetable Association at the Rhineland-Palatinate South Farmers 'Association and Federal Chairman of the Fruit Growing Section at the German Farmers' Association and the Central Horticultural Association .

Honors

Gerhard Kneib was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on Ribbon in 1983 and the Federal Cross of Merit 1st class in 1987 . For his services to the profession, Gerhard Kneib received the silver medal in 1996 and the gold medal of the Rhineland-Palatinate Chamber of Agriculture in 2001. The Minister-President of Rhineland-Palatinate Kurt Beck and the Minister for Economics, Transport, Agriculture and Viticulture, Hans-Artur Bauckhage , awarded him the title of Economics Council in 2002. The Presidium of the German Farmers' Association awarded him the Andreas Hermes Medal in 2011 in recognition of his many years of successful work in German fruit growing. The state of Rhineland-Palatinate honored him in 1967 with the award of the Freiherr vom Stein plaque .
