background

The term Kretscham for a village inn is still common in Upper Lusatia and was also found very often (see below) in the Prussian province of Silesia . The associated host is the Kretzschmar, plural Kretzschmarn. The surnames Kretschmar , Kretschmer and Kretschmann are derived from it. Places with the ending -kretscham are: Dreikretscham , Kretscham-Rothensehma , Kieferkretscham , Peiskretscham , Wasserkretscham and the deserted village Kretscham (Krčma) at Domašín .
