Germanium (II) sulfide is an inorganic chemical compound of germanium from the group of sulfides .

Extraction and presentation

Germanium (II) sulfide can be obtained by reacting germanium (II) chloride , germanium (IV) oxide or germanium with hydrogen sulfide .

properties

Germanium (II) sulfide is a black-gray to red-brown, crystalline solid that is soluble in hydrochloric acid. Dry germanium (II) sulfide is stable in air. It reacts with hydrogen chloride gas even at room temperature.

Germanium (II) sulfide is a semiconductor and has an orthorhombic crystal structure with the space group Pnma (space group no. 62) and the lattice parameters a  = 10.47  Å , b  = 3.641 Å and c  = 4.297 Å. Template: room group / 62
