Keteleeria davidiana is a plant species in the genus Keteleeria fromthe pine family (Pinaceae).
distribution
This tree species is native to central to southeastern China in the provinces of Gansu , Guangxi , Guizhou , Hubei , Hunan , Shaanxi , Sichuan and Yunnan ; the species is also native to Taiwan .
description
Keteleeria davidiana is an evergreen tree that can reach heights of 40 to 50 meters. It forms an irregular crown with strong branches. The female cones are light brown and cylindrical in shape; they stand upright on the branch. The cones are 8 to 20 cm long and 4 to 5 cm wide.
Systematics
A distinction is made between the following two varieties:
- Keteleeria davidiana var. Davidiana (Syn .: Keteleeria davidiana var. Calcarea (WCCheng & LKFu) Silba ): It occurs in central and southern China.
- Keteleeria davidiana var. Formosana (Hayata) Hayata : Endemic to Taiwan .
