Ghimeș-Făget ( Hungarian Gyimesbükk ) is a municipality in Bacău County in Romania . The seat of the municipality is the village of Făget .
Geographical location
The municipality of Ghimeș-Făget is located in the Eastern Carpathians between the Tarcau and Ciucului mountains . On the upper reaches of the Trotuş - a right tributary of the Sereth - Ghimeş-Făget is on the national road ( drum național ) DN 12A and the railway line Sfântu Gheorghe – Siculeni – Adjud about 40 kilometers northwest of the small town of Comăneşti ; the district capital Bacau is located about 100 kilometers east of Ghimeş-Făget.
To the east of the county Bacau in the region of Transylvania in the historical Szeklerland , is the town near the at 1,159 m located Gyimespass . ⊙
history
The place was first mentioned in a document in 1476. In the historical chair district Felcsíki ( Obercsík ) of the Csík county , the place is about 20 kilometers north of the Ghimeş gorge and the eastern border of the Kingdom of Hungary to Moldova . Here on the right bank of the Trotuș was the Rákóczi border castle built in the 17th century .
The local Catholic parish of the Holy Eucharist runs a parish center there, which was inaugurated in 2008. The Romanian parish is the sponsor community of the Catholic parish of St. Konrad in Bergisch Gladbach-Hand .

60% of the inhabitants are Hungarians . In the 2002 census, Ghimeş-Făget registered 5,340 inhabitants, including 2,720 Magyars , 2,522 Romanians , 25 Roma , 71 Tschango and two others.
