occupation

Ghosthouse (Original title: La casa 3 ) is an Italian-American horror film about an evil clown character from 1988. Umberto Lenzi directed this haunted house and ghost film under the pseudonym Humphrey Humbert . The script was written by Cinthia McGavin . Joe D'Amato worked as a producer under the guise of the film production company Filmirage Srl, founded in 1980 , who remains unnamed in the credits.

The misleading original title La casa 3 is based in Italy on Sam Raimi's Tanz der Teufel und Tanz der Teufel II - Now there is more dancing (in Italy as La casa or La casa 2 ) and pretends to be an unofficial straggler, although he is not. The film was indexed from 1989 to 2014 and was released in full from 16 after a re-examination in 2016.

action

Scituate , Massachusetts , May 1967. Funeral director and family man Sam Baker secretly steals from the dead entrusted to him before they are properly buried . Through these outrages he appropriates all kinds of possessions, including a demonic clown doll, which he gives to his daughter Henrietta, who is only eleven years old. Unknowingly, he conjures such a catastrophe. The toy of an unknown deceased turns the ordinary little girl into an obsessive, tragic figure - a puppet of evil. As soon as a strange melody sounds, inexplicable phenomena occur in the Baker house. Shortly afterwards, the couple is murdered and little Henrietta is found dead. The blood bath remains unsolved for the time being.

20 years later in neighboring Boston . Radio amateur and IT specialist Paul Rogers receives mysterious death screams from two people along with strange music. At the urging of his worried friend Martha, a student, he finally traces the signal back. The location leads the two of them in the country to an old empty house. Here the couple meets another radio amateur named Jim, who is staying here illegally with his pubescent sister Tina, his brother Mark and his girlfriend Susan. After a short conversation, those present try to find out the origin of the radio message. Meanwhile there are further mysteries; the spirit of Henrietta reveals itself to some of those seeking relaxation. Finally, there is another death when Jim dies.

The next day, the police summoned by Paul investigated the accident. The investigating Lieutenant Ferguson considers the mentally confused caretaker of the property, Valkos, to be suspect and writes him up for an investigation. In the further course of the act, the latter commits suicide . The group is not entirely convinced of Valkos' guilt, so they split up a little later to begin research. While Paul and Martha investigate in Boston, the rest of the people remain in the haunted house due to a technical defect in their motorhome, where they are gradually further decimated.

At some point Paul comes across Sam Baker's story, which is related to the clown character. He decides to cremate Henrietta's body in the family crypt, which he succeeds - the curse seems to have been banished. Martha and Paul say goodbye to Susan, the only one of their group to survive, and travel back to Boston.

Once there, at the end of the film, Martha accidentally discovers a clown doll in the window of a shop. The young woman is paralyzed with fear. At that moment, Paul tries to reach her from across the street, but is hit by an approaching bus. Martha, who is watching the incident, stays behind in shock.

Reviews

The lexicon of international films wrote that the horror film processed "all the ingredients of the genre into a potpourri without originality." In addition, Ghosthouse is "less exciting than bloody."
