Gilles Senn (born March 1, 1996 in Saas-Almagell ) is a Swiss ice hockey goalkeeper who has been under contract with the New Jersey Devils in the National Hockey League since April 2019 and also for their farm team, the Binghamton Devils , in the American Hockey League is used.

Career

Senn joined the youth department of HC Davos in 2011 at the age of 15 through the stations EHC Saastal and EHC Visp . He attended the sports high school in Davos . HCD coach Arno Del Curto provided him with his first short appearances in the National League A (NLA) during the 2014/15 season . Davos won the championship title that season.

With a view to the 2016/17 season, Davos decided to put their trust in a very young team of goalkeepers: Senn and Joren van Pottelberghe, who is around a year younger . In view of this decision, the Neue Zürcher Zeitung wrote: “It is an exciting experiment that the HCD is carrying out. The club is taking a risk that not many of the competition can afford - or want to. In any case, Davos is the ideal biotope for such a series of experiments ”.

In the 2017 NHL Entry Draft , Senn was selected 129th by the New Jersey Devils . After he achieved a 90.1% catch rate in 20 league games for Davos in the 2018/19 season, he was awarded a two-year contract by the New Jersey Devils of the National Hockey League (NHL) in April 2019 . For the time being, he will be used there with the Binghamton Devils in the American Hockey League (AHL). In December 2019, he finally made his debut for New Jersey in the National Hockey League (NHL).

International

Senn belonged to the Swiss national team in the age groups U17, U18 and U20. He was appointed to the senior national team for the first time in February 2017.
