Gillian Backhouse (born June 20, 1991 in Penrith City ) is an Australian triathlete .

Career

Gillian Backhouse grew up in Armidale in the Australian state of New South Wales - about halfway between Sydney and Brisbane .

She has been running triathlons since 2008 and is trained by Stephen Moss .

In March 2014 she became Australian triathlon champion on the short distance and in May U23 world champion and at the same time vice world champion on the duathlon short distance.

Vice World Champion 2015

In July 2015 she was in Hamburg in the Australian triathlon team with Ryan Bailie , Aaron Royle and Emma Jackson Vice World Champion in the mixed team (4 × 250 m swimming, 6.6 km cycling and 1.6 km running).

In 2017 she finished as the third-best Australian in 13th place in the ITU World Championship Series 2017 (World Championship racing series).

In 2019 she started in the Bundesliga in the EJOT Team TV Buschhütten .

Gillian Backhouse lives in Brisbane .
