Giovanni Francesco Biandrate di San Giorgio Aldobrandini (born April 7, 1545 in Casale Monferrato , † July 16, 1605 in Lucca ) was a cardinal , Roman Catholic bishop and lawyer.

On August 12, 1585, he was appointed bishop of Acqui with dispensation because he had not yet received an ordination . On the following November 3rd, Cardinal Giovanni Antonio Serbelloni consecrated him in the Sistine Chapel , supported by Gasparo Cenci, Bishop of Melfi and Rapolla, and Filippo Sega , Bishop of Piacenza. In the same year 1585 he became Commander Abbot of Ripalta . From February 5, 1592 to January 1593 he was governor of the Marches and from January 26, 1593 President of Romagna.

On June 5, 1596, Biandrate was elevated to cardinal in the consistory. On the following June 8th he received the cardinal's hat and on June 21st he received the titular church of San Clemente .

From April 14, 1597 he was apostolic legate in the Marche and governor of Ascoli Piceno and Montalto . In view of the many obligations that kept him away from his diocese, he probably resigned from the leadership before November 25, 1598 and at the same time took over the office of legate in Romagna.

End of the year 1598, he received along with the papal legate, Cardinal Ottavio Bandini , in Ferrara , at the entrance of the Papal States , Margaret of Austria , the future bride King Philip III. from Spain. The long distance wedding took place in Ferrara, which was then confirmed in Spain. In 1601 he became Commander Abbot of Caramagna .

On April 16, 1603 he was appointed Bishop of Faenza . He participated in both the first conclave of 1605 , the Pope Leo XI. elected, as well as in the second conclave that Pope Paul V elected.

Giovanni Francesco Biandrate died on July 16, 1605 in Lucca and was buried in Faenza Cathedral at his request .
