Giovanni Migliorati (Bishop)

Giovanni Migliorati MCCJ (born August 24, 1942 in Pavone del Mella , Italy ; † May 12, 2016 ) was an Italian bishop and Vicar Apostolic of Awasa , Ethiopia.

Life

After attending elementary and middle school, Giovanni Migliorati joined the Comboni missionaries in England as a novice in 1965 . He took his religious vows on September 9, 1968 and then studied philosophy . For religious priests of his congregation , he was ordained on April 12 1969th Afterwards he began to study languages in Addis Ababa and learned the Amharic language from 1969 to 1971 . From 1971 to 1973 he was parish vicar and in 1974 was appointed head of the catechesis center in Dongora (Apostolic Vicariate Awasa). Between 1979 and 1994 he performed the duties of a novice master , the commissioner for pastoral care and vicar general of his order. In Poland he directed the training of Comboni missionaries in Warsaw from 1994 to 2001 . In 2001 he took over the office of rain of the Great Seminary and became general secretary in the Vicariate of Awasa.

On March 21, 2009 Pope Benedict XVI appointed him . the titular bishop of Ambia and Vicar Apostolic of Awasa. 31 May 2009 he donated the Archbishop of Addis Ababa , Berhaneyesus Demerew Souraphiel CM , the episcopal ordination , co-consecrators were the Vicar Apostolic of Kuwait , Camillo Ballin MCCJ, and the emeritus Vicar Apostolic of Awasa, Lorenzo Ceresoli MCCJ.
