Gianni Rizzo

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Gianni Rizzo (actually Giovanni Rizzo , born April 5, 1924 in Brindisi , Apulia , † February 4, 1992 in Rome ) was an Italian actor .

Life

After graduating from school and training as a teacher, Rizzo moved to Rome to become an actor. His first film Macario contro Zagomar , which dates from 1944, marked the beginning of a career as a character actor. With his stocky, plump figure and his face expression tending to mockery, Rizzo was predestined for roles as cynical governors in adventure films , corrupt senators in sandal films or powerful clients and insidious bank managers in agent films and spaghetti westerns . He had his last appearance in The Name of the Rose . Occasionally, he had the opportunity to escape his role cliché in artistically demanding films by Roberto Rossellini , Pier Paolo Pasolini , Alberto Bevilacqua and Pietro Germi . A lifelong professional collaboration linked him with the director Gianfranco Parolini ; so he was seen in all films in his Sabata trilogy.

In addition to his film career, Rizzo has also appeared in numerous television works.
