Giuliana Calandra (born February 10, 1936 in Moncalieri , † November 25, 2018 in Aprilia ) was an Italian actress .

Life

After attending the acting school of the Piccolo Teatro di Milano , one of her first engagements was the moderation of the Sanremo Festival in 1961 at the side of Lilly Lembo . The first steps on stage also took place during this time, first with the Compagnia dei Giovani , then in the ensembles around Anna Proclemer and Giorgio Albertazzi , alongside Lauretta Masiero and Lina Volonghi , finally with Lilla Brignone and Gianni Santuccio and later under directors such as Luca Ronconi , Giuseppe Patrone Griffi and Mario Missiroli . Under Lina Wertmüller , she played (apart from a small part in the episode film Ro.Go.Pa.G ) her first major film role in 1973 and became a very busy character actress in precisely designed figure drawings. Often she was the elegant lady of the world, going through life lightly and carelessly, with the ability to be quick-witted and biting irony; outstanding examples are her roles in The Last Woman (1976, Marco Ferreri ), In viaggio con papà (1982, Alberto Sordi ), A Scandal in the Best Circles (1984, Pasquale Festa Campanile ) or Regina (1987, Salvatore Piscicelli ).

At the beginning of the 1980s, Calandra discovered other fields of work: she worked as a journalist and presented television programs that mainly dealt with the topics of fashion and entertainment. She also played increasingly for television productions (often in costume films such as Sandro Bolchi's Anna Karenina in 1974), which she had been doing since the mid-1960s. She was also seen in the series of films with works by Eduardo De Filippo in 1978.
