Giuseppe Della Porta Rodiani (born September 5, 1773 in Rome , † December 18, 1841 ibid) was an Italian cardinal of the Roman Church .

Life

Giuseppe Della Porta Rodiani was a relative of Cardinal Francesco Saverio Massimo and Augusto Negroni . He received on 24 September 1796 the sacrament of holy orders and became a canon of the Vatican Basilica and relator of the Consulta . He was also a member of the Court of Justice for the Vicariate of Rome . He became His Holiness's House Prelate and Consultor to the Congregation of the Roman and General Inquisitions .

On April 19, 1822, Giuseppe Della Porta Rodiani was appointed titular archbishop of Damascus by Pope Pius VII . He was ordained bishop on April 21 of the same year by Cardinal Annibale della Genga, later Pope Leo XII. ; Co- consecrators were Archbishop Pietro Caprano , Secretary of the Propaganda Fide Congregation , and Fortunato Maria Ercolani , Bishop of Civita Castellana, Orte and Gallese . Giuseppe Della Porta Rodiani was elevated to Latin Patriarch of Constantinople on May 16, 1823 . From September 28, 1823 to January 2, 1824 he was Vicar Vicar of Rome. From September 30, 1830 to February 6, 1833, Giuseppe Della Porta Rodiani was Vice-Entrant of Rome, after which he was General Auditor of the Apostolic Chamber from February 8, 1833 .

Pope Gregory XVI created him in the consistory of June 23, 1834 cardinal in pectore , the Pope announced this publicly on April 6, 1835. Giuseppe Della Porta Rodiani received the red hat on April 9 of the same year, and on July 24, 1835, he was awarded Santa Susanna as the titular church . From November 30, 1838 he served as cardinal vicar and prefect of the congregation for the residence of the bishops , which he remained until his death. He was buried in his titular church, Santa Susanna .
