Gladys Tejeda (born September 30, 1985 in Junín , Huancayo or Santa Fe de Jauja , Peru ) is a Peruvian athlete .

Career

The 1.62 meter tall athlete, who weighed 46 kg in competition in 2012, is trained by Pedro Kim . She took part in the Pan American Games in 2011 , where she finished 3rd with a time of 2: 42.09 hours in the marathon. Tejeda was also part of the Peruvian team for the 2012 Summer Olympics and was the flag bearer at the opening ceremony . In London , she completed the Olympic marathon route in a personal best of 2: 32.07 hours. This put it in 43rd place in the final ranking. At the 2013 South American Athletics Championships , she won the silver medal in the 5000 meter run. In 2014 she started at the World Half Marathon Championships . She reached 26th place and set a new national record in 1: 11.24 hours. At the Pan American Games in 2015 , she won the marathon with the championship record of 2:33:03 hours. However, during the doping control she tested positive for furosemide . She was suspended and the gold medal was revoked.

In November 2017 she won the gold medal in the half marathon at the Juegos Bolivarianos in Santa Marta with 1:14:55 h.

On July 27, 2019, she won the gold medal in the marathon at the Pan American Games with a new record of games of 2:30:55 h.
