history

The company was founded in 1959 by Alfred Arnold, who played a key role in the development of multi-pane insulating glass . The product range was later expanded to include functional glass and various insulating glass with laminates . There are also special aluminum structures, point-supported facades and all-glass systems. With the licensing of the Isolar brand , the largest merger of medium-sized, independent insulating glass manufacturers in Europe was created.

Today, Glas Wagener , Cristalux and arcon belong to the group of companies .

The Hunsrücker Glasveredelung Wagener GmbH & Co. KG was founded in 1956 and has been part of the Arnold Group since 2005 . Glas Wagener comprises three corporate divisions: functional glass, structural glass construction and grinding.

In 1975 the company founded Cristalux as a company for the production of single-pane safety glass. Cristalux is located in Kirchberg (Hunsrück) and has been part of the Arnold Group since 2005.

Arcon was created in 1980 as a joint project by Alfred Arnold and Wilhelm Conzelmann.

The Arnold Glaswerke employ 1,050 people at the Remshalden , Fürstenfeldbruck , Sankt Egidien , Klagenfurt , Feuchtwangen , Bucha and Kirchberg locations .

Projects

In Wolfhagen , Hesse , a former tank barracks was converted into a vocational school . Over 7,000 solar glass modules from Arnold Glas have been connected to form a roof structure. This corresponds to a total area of ​​almost 5,000 m². This means that an annual electricity generation of 150,000 kilowatt hours can be achieved. The extension of the secondary school in Trossingen in Baden was equipped with triple thermal insulation glass . It contains a special coating based on pure silver. Together with a gas filling in the space between the panes, this results in U-values of up to 0.6 W / (m 2  K).

Furthermore, a bird protection glass was created , which the company developed together with the Max Planck Institute for Ornithology . For the garden city of Wandsbek in Hamburg , the company created a 325 square meter glass facade made of bird protection glass.
