Gliśno Wielkie ( German Glisno , 1942–45 Glissensee ) is a village in the municipality of Lipnica in the powiat Bytowski in Kashubia in the Pomeranian Voivodeship in Poland . It is located around ninety kilometers southwest of the cities of Danzig and Gdynia .
History of the place
The first settlement probably existed on the site of today's Gliśno Wielkie in the 13th century. At that time the area belonged to the Duchy of Pomerania , before the Margraves of Brandenburg ruled there for several years around 1310 .
One of the oldest records about the place comes from a deed of donation from 1374: The nobleman Nickil von Glissen (Polish: Nickil de Glyszyn ) received the area around Glisno from Winrich von Kniprode , Grand Master of the Teutonic Order , for management and maintenance on November 7, 1374 Defense. Sweder von Pellant ( Tressler ), Heinrich von Grobitz ( Komtur von Schlochau ), Kaplan Niklas and Baldwin ( keeper von Tuchel ) witnessed the securitization and sealing of the property right (according to Kulm law ).
After the death of the last Pomeranian Duke Bogislaw XIV in 1637, the area around Glisno fell back to Poland. The Lords of Glissen were later ennobled by the Polish king (probably Johann III. Sobieski ), and the Polish title of nobility "ski" was added to the name. This is how the names Glysczinski, Glisczynski , or Glisczinski came about .
After the first partition of Poland in 1773, Prussia annexed the area. In 1805 Napoleon Bonaparte marched through Poland. After Napoleon's defeat, the Prussian King Friedrich Wilhelm III thanked . the Lords of Glisczynski for their resistance against France by being awarded the title of nobility by . From 1846 Glisno belonged to the Prussian district of Bütow .
